Indonesian Coal Exports
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that Indonesia's coal export ban will be lifted in stages starting Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
He said that tonight, several dozen ships filled with coal have been verified and have been released.
"There will be a few dozen ships filled with coal that have been verified tonight and have been released. Then, later when the export will be opened in stages, starting on Wednesday," he told reporters in his office, Monday (10/01/2022).
He said that currently the condition of the stock of coal for domestic power plants has improved, it has been gradual from 15 days to 25 days.
"So we are still seeing, now that the first one is all good, we have gradually increased the number of days from 15 days to 25 days, for reserves," he said.
As is known, previously the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued a policy to prohibit coal exports from January 1 to January 31, 2022, following the critical supply of coal for domestic power plants.
At least three countries have urged RI to open up their coal export taps again, such as Japan, South Korea and the Philippines.
